Norauto has been awarded the Responsible Brand label since last year – and for 3 years – for its Sustainable Development strategy, Norauto has made good progress in its overall assessment. This year, the CNPA joined forces with the “R Awards” of the Responsible Generation Club to reward exemplary initiatives with added social, societal or environmental value. Norauto, the leader in car maintenance, won a total of 4 R Awards: 3 by the Responsible Generation Club in the social innovation, energy improvement and waste management categories and one by the CNPA.
Norauto was singled out for its actions in favour of a safer and more sustainable road for all.
R AWARD SOCIAL INNOVATION & R AWARD CNPA: SAFER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY FOR LOW-INCOME PEOPLE THANKS TO THE MANA ARA NORAUTO SOLIDARITY PROGRAMME
Because mobility is one of the main obstacles to employment, the aim of the Mana Ara programme – a solidarity road in Maori – is to support people experiencing financial difficulties in maintaining and repairing their vehicle, whatever its make. As prevention costs less than repairing a breakdown, Mana Ara offers :
- A free diagnosis of the vehicle (more than 30 checkpoints) at a Norauto centre of your choice, allowing you to find out which parts need to be changed or work to be carried out, specifying the urgency of the problem. Objective: to optimise the budget linked to mobility.
- Financial assistance of up to 40% of the total amount of the invoice for the repair work to be carried out.
- Other mobility solutions (purchase of second-hand vehicles, electrically-assisted bicycles, scooters, etc.) These services are available to everyone with a CAF family allowance of less than €750 and in the 280 Norauto branches throughout France. In one year, 170 people have already benefited from these services. https://manaara.org/
R AWARD ENERGY IMPROVEMENT: 2.4 MILLION KWH/YEAR SAVED THANKS TO THE RELAMPING OPERATION CARRIED OUT IN A SELECTION OF NORAUTO CENTRES
The issue of energy management and optimisation is becoming more and more crucial. As part of the Sustainable Development strategy implemented by Norauto, ambitious commitments have been made to act in favour of the climate: a 20% reduction in energy consumption by 2022. Since 1st April 2019, a relamping operation has been organised in 87 Norauto centres. A total of 17,000 T8 tubes have been replaced by LED tubes. The results: a 60% reduction in energy consumption – a saving of 2.4 million kWh/year – and an increase in the luminous flux in shops. Norauto employees are made aware of energy saving measures through a best practice guide.
R AWARD FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT: DEVELOPMENT OF 21 RECYCLING CHANNELS AND CREATION OF A SORTING UNIT TO REDUCE WASTE IN NORAUTO CENTRES.

100% of Norauto’s branches are ISO 14001 certified, making it the only car centre brand with such a far-reaching environmental certification process. Since then, Norauto has continued to make progress in the environmental management of its points of sale and has set up 21 waste recycling channels. Today, all the centres recycle used products from the car maintenance business. From batteries to filters, from work clothes to tyres, in 2018 Norauto recycled 48,000 tonnes of used products. To go even further, Norauto teams have designed a used product sorting unit for storing, collecting and processing waste, which is being tested in the Fâches-Thumesnil and Englos centres (59). The aim is to raise customer awareness of sorting procedures and to deploy it in all of the network’s centres.
The European leader in automotive maintenance and equipment, Norauto has been helping motorists for almost 50 years to make their cars more accessible, cleaner and safer. As a company that has historically been highly committed to sustainable development and social responsibility, Norauto is a stakeholder in the ecological transition, generating innovative solutions and developing a diversity of services and products, beyond the automobile, contributing to increasingly responsible and carbon-free mobility. These 4 R Awards are a real source of pride for our teams. They reward the concrete actions carried out by our employees in line with our Sustainable Development strategy for 2019-2022. Our objectives are ambitious and we will maintain this requirement in order to anticipate the expectations of our consumers, the regulations in favour of climate and environmental protection, road safety and the well-being and health of our employees.
