After opening offices in San Francisco in 2016, Via ID – the startup accelerator in the new mobility solutions sector – has announced its first investment in the United States and its 10th investment operation in a year.
Via ID leads the transaction in a 2.5 million dollar investment pool, alongside Groupe RATP, the Wind Capital fund and the industrial giants Ford and Samsung NEXT, to accelerate the development of the Californian startup Swiftly, specialised in optimising urban transport via data.

The capital raised will allow Swiftly to develop new modules and accelerate its expansion internationally, particularly in Europe. This is an important step in the development of the Californian startup Swiftly.
Created in 2014 by Jonathan Simkin, a serial entrepreneur, the startup has developed a sharp technology that collects, analyzes, and translates simply real-time transit data to:
– improve the operational efficiency of public transport agencies,
– help cities make smarter infrastructure investments,
– simplify the travel of passengers through more accurate transit information.

Already tested in the cities of Chicago, Boston and Miami, the Swiftly solution intends to conquer the European metropolises, facing the same problems of urbanization.

For Yann Marteil, Executive Chairman of Via ID, “We are proud to have led this round of meetings, bringing together leading French and international experts in their fields. This operation shows that mobility issues are the same the world over, even if the way each approach is rolled out must remain local. With this in mind, we will be accompanying Swiftly as its international and particularly European development gains pace.”
